I just spent a week in San Antonio, TX, for work.  Pretty city.  One of the funniest comments that I thought myself and repeatedly heard was that you wouldn't even believe that you were in Texas based on the look and feel of the city.

The conference I was at was so-so.  The water industry supports a lot of small and large vendors.  My feet were bruised after four days in the booth.  Must request more padding.

The food down there was pretty good.  More atmosphere than anything else.  You're getting TexMex right on the border.  I liked one plate I had at Mi Tierra that included the queso dip right on the plate, mixed in with the enchiladas and taco.  The margs were good, too.  One of the guys from work and I tried La Fogata... again good atmosphere and reasonable food.  A nice touch in the drinks was an orchid blossom in every mixed drink.  Next time I'll skip the shrimp and go for something more traditional.

I did like the shopping down there.  Silver jewelry by weight.  Hand-blown glasses and pottery.  Jeanette would like it a ton... but she benefited anyway by receiving a bracelet and a set of glasses from my shopping.  One of the more memorable sights is the 40 foot bakery counter in Mi Tierra.  Yummy stuff.  Next time I may even skip dinner and go right for the sweets.
