Dessert at Emogene

We went out for a late dessert at Emogene Patisserie et Café in Cherry Creek. J was looking for something sweet and something sparkling and Emogene happened to be one of the places around that we hadn't yet tried. The wait in line at the counter was not too bad and gave us the chance to check out the dessert selections. J settled on two chocolate-dipped strawberries and a mini creme brulée. I selected a 'chocolate pyramid' that appeared to be a thick chocolate confection stuffed with pistachio paste... yum! I selected to try a Prosecco and J chose a Cava. We paid for our desserts at the counter and chose a seat. The eager wait staff soon brought us our drinks and then our desserts. They even warmed the creme brulée quickly so that it didn't arrive ice cold. My Prosecco was dry and crisp, well matched with the thick, chocolaty dessert I had chosen. J's Cava was a bit too sweet for me, but she liked it and said it went well with the desserts she had chosen. For about $25, we were satisfied with the food and the wine. The next time, we have resolved to sit farther away from the wait station / register where the staff either were either doing too much espresso or something more serious. They were too eager to take patrons' used plates to suit my taste. Also... they were a bit overeager with spraying glass cleaner on nearby tables to clean them off. A real wine connoisseur would have been quite put off by the sudden infusion of ammonia scents with her $9 glass of champagne. We liked Emogene, and will be back, but have to give the wait staff a knock for too much hyperactive Windex use.
