The hike is easy to get to off of state highway 91. We did a walk around the whole reservoir, cutting through some areas that are now nice wetlands, though were probably originally alpine habitat. The day was really nice for September, cool and sunny. We stopped at the mouth of the lake for a snack and a sit. We saw an odd local fishing for crayfish or something odd. The wildflowers were out and there was lots of water coming down the falls. Unfortunately the flies and mosquitoes were out, too! The hike is about 5 miles one-way and 3000 ft of elevation.
