Milo is better, but still mopey. We've been doing a good job at bringing him (and us) on some long walks lately. Last night we tired him out with a walk, sticks at the park, and lots of attention.
I read a slogan somewhere that's quite appropriate:
If your dog is fat, you don't get enough exercise!

Today we did a nice hike near Leadville around a man-made reservoir. The hike is easy to get to off of state highway 91. We did a walk around the whole reservoir, cutting through some areas that are now nice wetlands, though were probably originally alpine habitat. The day was really nice for September, cool and sunny. We stopped at the mouth of the lake for a snack and a sit. We saw an odd local fishing for crayfish or something odd. He sure wasn't catching any trout with his technique. Hi...

Flashback: Mohawk Lakes, Breckenridge

We went for a great hike last summer to see Mohawk lakes near Breckenridge, CO. Man... the water, the flowers, the butterflies... it was gorgeous.
The hike takes several hours, but it's worth it. We went up to several of the lakes and were astonished at how much water was up there. I can't wait to go back. Mom and dad got some really pretty photos of me... and they're lucky, too because I really wanted to just run around and play....

Flashback: A day in the Sand Dunes

We've done some pretty cool things since mom and dad rescued me from the Colorado Humane Society. One of the most fun was getting to go to the Great Sand Dunes National Monument in Colorado. Dude... I didn't even know that you could have sand dunes and no beach!
We trecked up and down, up and down... did I mention up and down? The sand was hard, but all the other dogs on the trip were tired out at the end of the day and I was still ready to play ball. The most fun was chasing dad, Noa...

No more Houdini for me...

It's been a week since I was caged in the backyard again. Can you believe that they don't want me out strolling the neighborhood during the day? Well... at least I got to go swimming in Breckenridge this weekend. We play frisbee and soccer down in the city, but it's just too darned hot to do too much. Next time, I need to get a photo of me getting cool in the Blue River... fun!...

Call me "Houdini"

Unfortunately last night Mom and Dad found out that this week I discovered an escape route from the backyard. You see... they didn't know because nice neighbors kept dropping me off back at home before the end of the day. Finally, some guy named Andrew caught me and kept me in his yard all day, then called Mom and Dad. Can you believe that?
This morning Dad was out there at 7:00 AM, wiring up the fence. Busted!!!
Oh... to live another day outside in the alley......

Milo says 'Dad is boring'

My dad is really boring. All he does is sit at his computer and work... when is he going to take me out and play again? I mean, come on! One walk or session with the soccer ball a day just doesn't cut it!...

Sniff... sniff... Down with the Doggie Flu

I just got back from the kennel with the doggie flu. It had me down for a couple of days, but I was back playing with my ball just fine today. At least I got to hang out inside all week with the kitties. Tomorrow it looks like it will be nice so I'll be relegated to the back yard....

Hello, I'm Milo. I'm a Border Collie and I'd like to share some of my story with you. I live with a fat gray cat, a snorting persian cat, a skittish tiger cat, and two people who adopted me from the Humane Society....

Colorful Fall Aspen

Here's a nice photo from the fall last year. We went on a walk on Trail Ridge Road near Breckenridge. The leaves were beautiful, although they were a bit annoying because mom and dad kept stopping to look around and take photos. I'm photogenic, but even a dog like me can only stand so much!...
