  Maps + Ecards + Blogs = YakJive

If you haven't visited our site lately, you'll probably want to know that we've added some new functionality to your newspaper, business, or family website on YakJive.com.

Maps

For a while you've been able to enter map coordinates for your articles. Now you can use those coordinates to automatically plot your articles on maps. We give you the ability to map a single article, map all the articles in a newspage, or show all the articles in a newspage as a route.

Want to write a travellog and show your articles on a map with a route of your travels, including photos? Create a newspage for your trip, add articles in order of the dates that you traveled, add photos, and add map coordinates. When you publish your site, your visitors will be able to show the articles plotted on a map!

Want to show your favorite trailheads on a map? Write an article for each trail, add the coordinate of the trailhead, then publish your site. Your visitors will be able to see all your favorite trails on a map!

Address geocoding

Huh? The term "address geocoding" is fancy verbage for assigning a map coordinate to an address. We're now using Google's cool mapping technology to automatically assign your article a coordinate if you enter an address. That means that if you're writing business reviews, historic building photos, or other address-related articles, your visitors can automatically plot them on a map.

Free electronic greeting cards

You read it right. Every photo that you upload to YakJive.com can now be sent by your site visitors as a free electronic greeting card. You'll see a small mail icon below each photo. Click on the icon and you should see a popup wizard that guides you through the greeting card creation process. This is great for promoting your site, your product, or just sharing your photos!

External links on your menu

Do you have a store, Flickr site, or blog that you want to link from your YakJive site? Now you can do this, too! From the Manage Sections page in the admin interface, add a URL Placeholder Section. You'll be able to add a URL for the placeholder and even move the placeholder up and down in the section list. Then, when the site is published, you'll see the link right in your menus.

We hope that you enjoy the new functionality and that you enjoy YakJive!

(These features are optional and may be turned off in your site properties.)
